Winchester 39 – 29 UCS
UCS played Winchester this week and had a strong equal start only losing the first quarter by 1.
For the rest of the game the defence made lots of interceptions and kept the shooters out of the D. Once the ball was with our shooters they got it straight in with no hesitation.
UCS kept their heads up the whole game and played very well but unfortunately losing in a very competitive game, and ending the 5-game winning streak with the final score 39:29

Newbury 7’s
BTC travelled away to Newbury RFC and took part in a 7’s tournament in preparation for Rosslyn Park 7’s later in the month.
They faced Barton Peveril in the first game a strong team who had plenty of strong runners but this didn’t stop BTC as they were down at half time. Going into the second half they showed real determination and great team work to end up coming out as winners with 17-15.
Second match was against Callywith after playing them only a week ago the girls knew what challenges they had but showed how to overcome them, with great teamwork in the offloads and support play at the final whistle they were 19-10 winners.
Their third game they knew would be challenge as they faced Newman college, a strong team who was full of pace recognises the gaps and utilising them this didn’t get to the girls head so they stayed out their fighting making huge hits in tackles and rucks sadly coming to their first defeat at 10-30.The final game of the day against Brockenhurst the girls were eager for the win to end the tournament after working hard in the warm up with offloads they managed to find the space on the wings due to the oppositions default and ship it wide sending our wingers with pace over the try line leaving the girls 31-5 winners.
A long day for the girls ending the day as second in the group as a team they showed the improvement in team work, strong runs, huge hits, amazing offloads they put their hearts into the pitch and never gave up showing great determination. The girls now prepare for their final tournament and game of the year at Rosslyn on the 21st March.

After going into half time 1-1. Bridgend start on the front foot scoring 2 well played goals putting them in the lead. With 10 minutes to go Blake Kearley scores a strike of a freekick that bends around the wall and lands bottom corner, finishing off the game to Bridgend.

Team BTC 1 – 2 Wiltshire
Team BTC Taunton took on Wiltshire 1’s in an enticing game for both sides. It was a game that was very eventful throughout, but Wiltshire managed to get the upper hand.
With half an hour played, Wiltshire took the lead after a clean strike of the ball into the top corner. Wiltshire led at half-time.
The second half saw Team BTC get their leveller through Harry. He weaved his way through a couple of defenders, after a pass from Luke Haysham, and smashed the ball beyond reach of the Wiltshire goalkeeper.
With ten minutes to go, a deflected shot sent BTC goalkeeper Lawson the wrong way meaning Wiltshire took the lead again, and thus won the game.
Despite the loss, a positive result for out Taunton side who had to play with many new additions to their side.

Hartpury 2s 9 – 0 Team BTC
Team BTC travelled to Hartpury for their last away day of the season. Both teams got off to a good start, both patient in and out of possession until Hartpury broke the deadlock. Team BTC reacted to this with several through balls from Mills and Stanmoor for Campbell-Farmer and McLean to follow through but with several opportunities created, Team BTC struggled to hit the net.
Team BTC came out more aggressive in the second half with a successful high press and Henderson up top putting Hartpury’s back line under pressure. The back three of Pinkett, Hayward and Arnold were clever and composed in possession to support the forward play and were very proactive at the back with their high line, reacting quickly to Hartpury playing in behind ensuring it was made difficult for Hartpury right through to the end.
POTM – Katy Pinkett for her quick decision making at the back, recognising when we needed to press and drop to prevent the through ball.
