Course Overview

This course is for practical learners who enjoy working with timber, and building things with a hands-on approach. If already working in the trade, the course can enhance skills to the next level.

The course will introduce learners to being safe workers, and further develop knowledge and skills of the construction trade. It demonstrates how to make the most of this wonderful material, with all types of timber, characteristics and workability, understanding how the complex joints are made and constructed. Learners will benefit from:

  • Purpose-built and fully-equipped workshop
  • Dedicated and qualified teaching team with a wealth of experience
  • Links with joinery and building companies
  • Additional qualifications or experience can be gained
  • Opportunities to develop transferable skills

Assessment Methods

This course will be assessed by practical assessments, online tests and completing a portfolio.

Progression Options

Successful completion of this course could lead to employment, to an allied trade such as bricklaying, or to a university course in construction.

Attendance Requirements This is a one year course, two evenings a week three hours per evening between 6pm - 9pm.
