We can refer students up to the age of 18 for an autism assessment via the Neurodevelopmental Pathway link. For students over the age of 18, a referral has to be completed by a GP, however, we can support with writing notes for the GP.

We offer the following support:

• low sensory space
• social space
• planning their workload
• breaking down assignments into smaller steps
• understanding timetables and creating visual timetables if needed
• finding their way around college
• being the go-to person if things don’t go right
• attending tutor meetings with them, if needed
• ensuring the correct exam concessions are in place
• talking through any worries
• suggesting reasonable adjustments that may help
• referring to other departments of the college, where necessary, e.g. counselling, wellbeing
• advocating for students and supporting self-advocacy skills
• promoting a positive self-identity
• opportunities to socialise with others
• delivering the relevant statutory support identified in EHCPs.

We offer this support through:

• regular 1-1 check-ins, either face-to-face or online
• drop-in support
• working with the transition team to support transition from schools
• Microsoft Teams messages
• liaising with parents and external agencies, e.g. CAMHS, Social Services
• offering training and support to curriculum staff
• keeping ourselves up to date with relevant research and training.
