RAG Day is a highlight in the BTC calendar, and it’s all about having fun whilst raising money for amazing causes!

Short for “Raise and Give”, RAG Day perfectly embodies the My BTC Advantage by encouraging students to flourish not just academically, but personally too.

It’s a chance for students and staff from all departments to come together and organise creative and exciting fundraising activities, all while developing key skills and contributing to the wider community.

This year, RAG Day will be taking place on Thursday 19 December 2024.

What can I expect on RAG Day?

Expect a day filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a whole lot of fun! From wacky competitions and fancy dress to bake sales and sponsored challenges, there’s something for everyone to get involved in. In the past, we’ve seen everything from:

• Creative challenges: whether art competitions, silent discos, or costume contests, these will allow you to express yourself freely, developing your communication skills
• Get active: we’ve seen a Just-Dance-athon, sponsored head shaves, staff football matches and even Total Wipeout! Why not embrace a new challenge this year?
• Pamper sessions: previously, our Hair, Beauty & Barbering students have offered their services in support of charity, allowing you to relax and rejuvenate.
• Delicious treats: indulge in cakes, cookies and other goodies at bake sales, organised by students who are motivated to achieve their fundraising goals!

Who are we supporting in 2024?

This year, we’re proud to be supporting three incredible local charities, chosen by our students. This solidifies our commitment to being Community Minded, as we use our presence in the local community to shine a light on the incredible work each of these charities are doing.

• St. Margaret’s Hospice: providing compassionate care and support to those facing life-limiting illnesses.
• Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance: Delivering vital emergency medical services across the region.
• Mind In Somerset: Supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Why is RAG Day important?

RAG Day isn’t just about raising money; it’s about:

• Making a difference: your contributions directly help these charities continue their invaluable work in our community and beyond. This community spirit is a core principle here at BTC.
• Developing skills: planning and participating in RAG Day activities helps students develop valuable skills like teamwork, organisation, and communication.
• Building community: RAG Day brings everyone together, fostering a sense of belonging and shared purpose, and promoting a Safer, Happier, Healthier environment for all.
