The automotive industry is in the midst of a major transformation, as hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs) become increasingly popular. These vehicles offer a number of advantages over traditional cars, including lower emissions, reduced fuel costs, and a quieter volume of operation. As a result, it is clear to many that they have quite the part to play in the future of transportation, as well as our day-to-day lives.
At BTC, we’re proud to position ourselves at the forefront of educating the next generation of highly-specialised automotive workers. We have received significant investment to our automotive department; our state-of-the-art electrical vehicle training facilities and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) ensure we are staying current with a rapidly changing market. Prospective mechanics will have to embrace a new world of tech that promises to evolve even further in the coming years.
Whether in newly refurbished workshops or classrooms, students gain the knowledge and skills required to pursue a career and further education in this field. With brand-new vehicles, such as a Toyota Corolla GR Sport, Volkswagen e-Golf and Honda Civic Type R, our expert teachers and tutors are ensuring students are future-proofing their vocation.
The growth of the EV market is creating new opportunities for those interested in an automotive career. As an increasing number of people switch petrol for electric, there will be a further need for more skilled technicians to repair and maintain these vehicles. Our courses and facilities provide students with an extra edge amongst the booming industry of Somerset, which BTC is proud to be a part of.
To celebrate our Automotive departments successes, in just 2023 alone:
- A BTC student was crowned The Institute of the Motor Industry’s Student of the Year and was awarded The Fellowship of the Motor Industry’s Outstanding Achiever Award.
- Both Bridgwater & Taunton campuses debuted our ADAS alongside diagnostic equipment from Autel.
- Our Motorsport Team takes to the road once again, competing in competitions across the country with a team eager to prove themselves.
If you are interested in a career in the automotive industry, now is the time to get started. BTC is offering the training you need to succeed.
