Course Overview

The L2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship is suitable for you if you are looking to work with children between birth and 5 years, and gain knowledge of working with children up to 7 years.

You do not need to have previous qualifications or experience in working with children to undertake this qualification. It is assessed in a work situation and combines knowledge and practical skills.

Content includes:
‘€¢Roles and responsibilities of the Early Years Practitioner
‘€¢Safeguarding, protection and welfare of babies and young children in early years settings
‘€¢Promote play in an early years setting
‘€¢Partnership working in the early years

You will be required to attend weekly classes at our Bridgwater Campus. You and your line manager/mentor will be required to attend regular review meetings with the assessor who will visit your workplace for observations.

Assessment Methods

You will build a portfolio, which will include coursework and practical assessments in your workplace. You will undertake a knowledge test and a professional discussion for your End Point Assessment (EPA).  

You may be required to sit exams for Functional Skills in English and Maths if you do not already have these.

Progression Options

On completion of this course you could apply to progress to the Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard.
