Course Overview

Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses designed to equip adult learners with the relevant industry skills based on employer demand. The courses aim to upskill learners in their current job role, learn new skills and secure a job upon completion, or progress to an accelerated apprenticeship. This course is designed for those wishing to develop their understanding and skills in Steel Fixing. The course will cover the necessary Health and Safety surrounding Steel Fixing, as well as numerous practical sessions giving you access to relevant PPE, tools, and techniques.

  • Manual handling introduction
  • Introduction to PPE, tools and how to tie
  • Learning and practicing ties
  • Steel Fixing practicals
  • Setting up and marking out
  • Abrasive wheel and cutting practicals
  • U bar practicals
  • Introduction to drawings
  • Practical assessments

Progression Options

On completion and achievement of the Skills Bootcamp, learners will be able to upskill in their current role, apply for relevant jobs, or progress on to an accelerated apprenticeship.

  • Aged 19 or over

  • Have not started or completed a Skills Bootcamp this financial year

  • Have the right to work in the UK

  • Unemployed and looking for a role in steel fixing or related
    construction

  • If you are employed and upskilling, your employer may be asked to
    contribute dependant on your circumstances.
