Course Overview

The duration of this course is11-13 weeks.

This qualification is designed to increase learners awareness and understanding of behaviour that challenges and its effects.

By completing this qualification, learners will develop in-depth knowledge of behaviour that challenges which could support progression onto other appropriate qualifications and into relevant employment in the health and social care sector.

This qualification would be valuable to learners already, or new to working in education and health and social care settings.

Unit 1 – Understand Behaviour that Challenges

Section 1 – Understand behaviour that challenges
Section 2 – Understand the reasons why people present with behaviour that is perceived as challenging
Section 3- Understand the impact of behaviour that challenges

Unit 2 – Understand How to Support Positive Behaviour

Section 1 – Understand how to identify when an individual’s behaviour may escalate
Section 2 – Understand strategies to support positive behaviour
Section 3 – Understand how the rights of individuals are protected

Unit 3 – Understand the importance of effective communication and the management of behaviour that challenges

Section 1 – Understand communication in managing behaviour
Section 2 – Understand how to manage behaviour that challenges
Section 3 – Understand the roles of others in supporting individuals who exhibit behaviour that is perceived as challenging

Unit 4 – Understand the role of reflection and support for those involved in incidents of behaviour that challenges

Section 1 – Understand the benefits of reflection following episodes of behaviour that challenges
Section 2 – Understand the support available to maintain own wellbeing

Assessment Methods

Assessments are due at the end of each unit. Your tutor will assess your work and build up your portfolio of evidence learning. A certificate will be awarded on satisfactory submission of evidence of learning for the units studied.

Spotlight

The staff have been very supportive they will do anything to help whether it be staying late or putting in 100% to make the lessons more suited to you. The staff have backgrounds in the specific course in which you want to take which helps to get another person’s view on what it’s like to work in the sector and also the course covers all areas of the subject and there is nothing that isn’t covered within the syllabus and modules.
