Course Overview

Are you an allotment grower or just looking to utilise your own garden area to grow your own food? With the ever-increasing cost of food, or whether you’d like to be more self-sufficient, this course may be for you.

We will look at the ‘potager’ in the walled garden of cannington, discussing the three sisters approach to gardening and companion growing to maximize your harvests.Although this is a classroom-based course, you will have access to the historic gardens.

The session covers how to plan and design your growing space, using best practice to get the best of your crops.

  • Preparing and designing your site
  • Companian planting
  • Sowing and planting guides
  • Three sister approach
  • Organic growing
  • Dig/No dig
  • Mulching and fertilising

Progression Options

If you are interested in horticulture, we offer other day courses but also part time study of the respected RHS Level 2 Practical or BTCC Principles of Sustainable Horticulture.?and BTCC Introduction to Practical Horticulture.
