Begin your apprenticeship journey at BTC by applying for an apprenticeship on our website or through our prospectus form. Please apply for a full-time course as your second option. Then, have a look at relevant vacancies by visiting our vacancy page. If you haven’t found a suitable vacancy, you will automatically be placed into our Talent Pool.

This flexible programme offers the opportunity to be involved in planning learning activities in your workplace and complete a paediatric first aid course.

The course covers the following:

  • Working safely with young children
  • Healthy environments
  • Learning through structured activities

The College has excellent relationships with schools in the area and provide a supportive learning environment. The teaching staff and assessors have recent, relevant workplace
experience and enjoy the opportunity to nurture new practitioners.

Assessment Methods

There are no written exams for the apprenticeships, instead you build a portfolio which includes coursework and practical assessments from your workplace. You may be required to sit exams for Functional Skills in English, maths and ICT if they do not already have these.

Progression Options

On successful completion of the Apprenticeship you could find permanent employment in early years settings.

Entry Requirements

You need at least five GCSEs in the 9 to 4 (A* to C) range or a relevant
Level 2 qualification with a Merit or Distinction. Entry is subject to a
successful interview and you are expected to have employment in a school of at
least 30 hours a week and the employment needs to last the duration of the
course.

Spotlight

My ambition is to become a primary school teacher and make a difference to children's lives. I'm keen to work with children who have additional needs, as I know the value of being supported and helped. After College I plan to study degree and then a PGCE course in order to become a qualified teacher.
