The duration of this course is 11-13 weeks.
The qualification is designed to help learners to understand the meaning and importance of infection control, the causes of infections, the condition in which they thrive and the ways that they can be spread.
As part of this course you will study four mandatory units:
UNIT 1 – Principles of the causes and spread of infection in health care settings
UNIT 2 – Principles of the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection in health care settings
UNIT 3 – Principles of decontamination, cleaning and waste management in health care settings
UNIT 4 – Principles of infection prevention and control in a health care setting
Assessments are due at the end of each unit. Your tutor will assess your work and build up your portfolio of evidence of learning. A certificate will be awarded on satisfactory submission of evidence of learning for the units studied.

The staff have been very supportive they will do anything to help whether it be staying late or putting in 100% to make the lessons more suited to you. The staff have backgrounds in the specific course in which you want to take which helps to get another person's view on what it's like to work in the sector and also the course covers all areas of the subject and there is nothing that isn't covered within the syllabus and modules.
