Course Overview

This one-year course is designed to advance existing hairdressing skills and knowledge and offers a natural progression route from the Level 2 hairdressing qualification.

Units may include:

  • Develop advanced cutting and colouring techniques.
  • Client consultation
  • Develop and enhance creative hairdressing skills.
  • Style and dress long hair
  • Colour correction
  • Creative perming

Assessment Methods

Assessments take place throughout the course and include practical observations, oral questions, written assignments and online multiple-choice tests.

Progression Options

On successful completion, you may choose to progress to a Level 3 Diploma in Barbering or Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects & Media Make-up. Alternatively, you could seek employment in a hair salon, own your own salon business, become a wig maker, work in the film industry or with industry giants such as L’Oréal.

Entry Requirements

You need a good reference and five GCSEs in the range 9 to 4 including English and Maths along with a Level 2 hairdressing qualification, at merit profile. Entry is also subject to a successful interview.
