Begin your apprenticeship journey at BTC by applying for an apprenticeship on our website or through our prospectus form. Please apply for a full-time course as your second option. Then, have a look at relevant vacancies by visiting our vacancy page. If you haven’t found a suitable vacancy, you will automatically be placed into our Talent Pool.

This course is for anyone who would like to acquire the knowledge, skills and understanding to work at a supervisory level or above in the horticultural industry and study through work-based learning. It is well suited to those progressing from a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Horticulture or those with industry experience who would like to further their education whilst in employment.

During the Apprenticeship, also work towards achieving other qualifications such as the Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work and Pesticides, Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling & Application of Pesticides Guidance or the Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides.

Teaching delivered in the method that best suits your employer. You could attend College for weeks of training and/or receive one-to-one sessions in the workplace with employer regular feedback.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is through an end-point assessment that includes professional discussions based on portfolio, practical task supervisory studies project and online knowledge test. During the course you also complete an e-portfolio, written questions, a journal and project work.

Progression Options

Horticulture and Landscape Supervisors can be employed to oversee work in public parks and gardens, green spaces and historic gardens, private gardens and estates or in production nurseries and retail outlets. To continue your studies, you could complete Level 4 and 5 qualifications such as the Foundation Degree in Horticulture.
