Bridgwater & Taunton College can truly claim to be at the leading edge of vocational nuclear industry training. The demand for skilled and qualified nuclear workers in Somerset is high, and with the build of the new Hinkley C power station on the doorstep of the College's nuclear training facilities (National College for Nuclear), we are ideally positioned to provide high-quality professional training in an environment that simulates the behaviours and cultures expected within the nuclear industry, ensuring learners are work-ready and competent to enable them to perform to the highest operational levels.
The nuclear industry is expected to need possibly 100,000 new employees over the next decade. NCfN’s high‚Äëlevel nuclear curriculum, range of qualifications and progression routes to jobs, underpin this predicted growth and demonstrates the UK’s commitment to placing nuclear at the heart of its industrial strategy for the 21st century.
NCfN@BTC is committed to collaborate with industry, bringing together our expertise and ensuring it is embedded at every stage of our training and education, delivering high-level technical training and qualifications to ensure career and skills development is relevant and supports economic growth.
All of NCfN’s training programmes and qualifications are designed to meet the needs of the industry. Whether it’s an entry-level programme for a school leaver, Apprenticeship, professional development course or degree-level qualification, our learners are well-prepared for the workplace.
Our approach to training and teaching delivery is hands-on and innovative. Practical experience helps employees develop the high standards of human performance that are of such critical importance in the nuclear sector, and our virtual reality simulators replicate the nuclear environment, meaning learners gain real-world experience, working on a series of live projects, in a safe way.
