Today was spent at Hinds Community College, to see how different or similar the college is to our own.
Ambassadors ‘shadowed’ Hinds students in their classes during the morning, giving them a real experience of college life, American style. A trip to the college store was also popular on the agenda, with various t-shirts, sweaters and folders purchased by most.
Lunch was taken in the cafeteria, with mac and cheese and chips being the firm favourite, and much delight in the selection of cookies and ice cream for dessert – and the fact you can eat as much as you like!
After lunch, the Ambassadors met their American counterparts, the Hinds Connections. The American ‘ambassadors’ gave a tour of the whole Raymond campus, which we couldn’t help to admire, with its grand architecture, high ceilings and highly polished floors. Once finished, we sat in on their weekly meeting and were able to ask questions about how their ambassador system worked, thinking about how we might improve our own.
