From securing a place in the FA Youth Cup’s first round to dominating the AOC South West Regionals, Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) Men’s Football teams have shown exceptional skill, determination, and spirit.

Their journey through to the FA Youth Cup has been nothing short of exhilarating. Facing tough opponents, our players displayed a relentless will to win, earning them well-deserved praise and anticipation for what’s next. As our Performance & Development Manager Mo Hopkins reflects, the support for our team has been phenomenal, and the players are ready for any challenge.

Following on from their success, the team drew Oxford United away in the next round which they knew would be tough match up. The hosts scored either side of half-time and right at the end of the game. It was a solid effort against a tough opponent, with a few chances unfortunately guided wide.

The success didn’t stop there though! Our squad, a blend of 1st and 2nd team players, showcased their talent at the AoC South West Regionals, with star performances like Afonso Almeida’s striking spree and Tom Symonds securing victory in a nail-biting final. Going undefeated and not conceding a single goal throughout the tournament speaks volumes of their performances and teamwork.

Jamie Laird, Team BTC Manager, reflected on the day,

An incredible 24 hours for our BTC Men’s football programme. Now, we set our sights on the AoC National Championships next April at Nottingham University, where we will represent the South West and try to replicate the success of our Women’s football team in April this year.

A huge well done to all involved!
