Seven of Bridgwater College’s International Baccalaureate (IB) and A Level students have secured offers of places from some of the UK’s most prestigious universities.
The students have worked hard on their applications and interviews over the last year and as a result have now received offers from highly respected universities. These universities include Oxford University and Imperial College, to study competitive courses, including Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science, Experimental Psychology, Human Sciences and Classics.
Three students made it through the gruelling Oxford University entry tests and interviews to secure offers of places dependent on results.
IB student, Eloise Bagg, formerly of Crispin School, gained an offer from St Hilda’s College, Oxford, to study Experimental Psychology.
Kerris Chappell-Smith, who moved to Bridgwater from Cardiff to take the IB Diploma Programme, has gained an offer to study Human Sciences at Magdalen College, Oxford.
A Level student, Reuben Sharp, formerly of Robert Blake Science College, has an offer to study Classics from Balliol College, Oxford. Reuben commented,
“The support I have received from the College was exemplary, they have been there all the way, notably guidance on my application form and written work submissions.”
Four of our students are also following their dreams of top healthcare careers, after extensive work-experience, pre-tests and interviews which included role playing patients and ethical scenarios.
IB students Jon LeHunte, formerly of Crispin School in Street and Holly Argrave of Robert Blake Science College in Bridgwater, have received offers to study Medicine from Imperial College and Manchester University.
Alisha Paul and Stacey Squires, former pupils of Broadoak School and Robert Blake Science College, have offers to study Dentistry and Veterinary Science from Queen’s University, Belfast and Liverpool University. Alisha said,
“As part of the College’s Honours Academy, I was encouraged to do an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). I chose to look into the science behind fillings, which helped me greatly in my dentistry application. The College mock interviews were also very close to the real thing, they helped me build up my confidence so much!”
Dr Bob Mudd, Head of A Levels, which includes IB provision said,
“There are a large number of students across the whole department that have worked to secure some very impressive offers, in many academic disciplines, from the top universities. We have a number of very high calibre students who put in excellent applications and worked really hard to prepare for the entry tests and interviews. They are all now focused on revision to ensure that they secure those places. I am very proud of the great efforts put in by all our students and the outstanding staff who support them.”
