A former motorsport student at Bridgwater College has recently been offered the job of his dreams as Race Support Engineer for McLaren GT.
Since completing the Motorsport Engineering Foundation Degree with a Distinction, Joel Vermiglio, has spent the past two years gaining work experience, including working in the Engineering department at Bridgwater College and a year as Race Team Manager for Carey McMahon Racing in Australia. Now back in the UK, Joel is excited to be starting his role with the high profile Motorsport company, McLaren GT.
Joel said,
“My experiences at Bridgwater College have played a large part in preparing me for this role. My involvement with the College Race Team along with my role as Team Manager at Carey McMahon Racing in Australia has given me the perfect foundation for progressing my career in top level motorsport. This, teamed with the fantastic support I received from my Programme Manager and lecturers on the course, has set me up perfectly for turning my passion into a successful career.”
Josh Smith, Programme Manager in Motorsport Engineering said,
“Joel was an extremely dedicated and hardworking student; he grabbed any opportunity with both hands while here on the course and continued to find and work for opportunities of his own. The Foundation Degree offered him the chance to improve his understanding and skills of a range of motorsport subjects which he has since put into practise in Australia as Race Team Manager and now at McLaren GT. I wish Joel all the success he deserves and good luck for the future.”
