Bridgwater College is launching a Food Academy for Year 10 and 11 students. In partnership with the South West’s Food Industry the College will deliver a new Saturday morning Food Academy that will run for six weeks from the end of January 2016.

Students who are interested in a career in Food and Drink, Food Technology or Catering, or interested in finding out how and where your food comes from, this fun course is a great opportunity for to find out more about the Food and Drink Industry. 

The programme will include the following sessions:

  • Design & Make your own Sausages
  • The Science Behind Ice Cream Revealed
  • Microbiology: The Bacteria you Left Behind!
  • Dragon’s Den: Design and produce your product ready to pitch to the Dragons!
  • Tour of Rodway Farm, Cannington
  • Guest Speakers from Industry
  • Food Chemistry in Action
  • Master Class: Butchery Skills
  • Master Class: Plated Desserts

On completion of the programme there will be a graduation ceremony where students will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

The programme will run at Bridgwater College’s Cannington Centre for six weeks starting 30 January 2016. It will take place on Saturday mornings from 9.30am – 12.30pm. The cost of the programme is just £30 for the six-week programme and will cover all materials and ingredients used.
