BTC are proud to have partnered with The Environment Agency, the National Trust, The Canal & River Trust and Somerset Drainage Board (with support from LANTRA) to pioneer and deliver the brand new Water Environment Worker Level 3 Apprenticeship standard across England.
Key industry partners came together during National Apprenticeship Week 2020 to mark the beginning of the new trailblazer programme, with speakers from each of the trailblazer group representing their organisation’s involvement in this exciting new development.
Andy Berry, Principal and CEO of Bridgwater & Taunton College said
BTC regards this new partnership with the Environment Agency as a highly valued addition to its training portfolio and is delighted to be working in collaboration with such a prestigious trailblazer group to deliver this pioneering new programme to learners on a national scale.”
Recently awarded Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ in Apprenticeships, BTC is the only training provider in the country to offer the Water Environment Worker Apprenticeship and has already secured over 100 enrolments during the coming weeks, with organisations such as the National Trust, Canal and River Trust and Somerset Drainage Board all involved. Apprentices will undertake their off-the-job training at the College’s Cannington Campus and assessors are located in designated regions of England. BTC will co-ordinate and standardise delivery to ensure that all Environment Agency personnel receive a consistent Apprenticeship service in each of the regions in which it is being delivered.
The main overview of the 18-month Apprenticeship is maintaining, repairing and carrying out minor works on a variety of water based assets as well as managing the habitats that make up these unique environments and the public access to these special places to help ensure enjoyment for all.
