Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) students who study Sports, Coaching & Exercise Health held an exciting multi-sport event for Bishop’s Hull Primary School pupils.
BTC students hosted a ‘festival of sport’ for the eager children. After extensive planning sessions on the lead-up to the event, BTC students worked collaboratively to prepare activities for 60+ pupils with a wide-range of different needs and capabilities. With a significant variety of sports on offer, the event required excellent communication and coaching skills, many of which have been developed during their time at the College.
The experience has been essential to both the personal and academic progression of the BTC students, as it is linked to their coaching modules. It has enabled them to get crucial experience planning and delivering sessions in a busy real working environment.
The Bishop’s Hull pupils, on the other hand, were able to explore different sports and grow both their confidence and athletic abilities. The festival was able to make use of the College’s excellent facilities and equipment.

It was an incredible experience for our Sports students – events and experiences like these are so important to their progression. With many considering a future in coaching, they got to experience what it is like to work with a different age groups, building their confidence and teaching styles.
