Staff and students from Bridgwater College’s Cannington Centre attended the Bath and West Show and took home the Gold Award for best stand.
The College held a prime position in the show grounds Farming for the Family area. 132,000 people attended the event this year, a large proportion of who visited the stand. The College’s stand offered visitors a wide array of fun and interactive activities to get involved in, including a smoothie bike, a life size model milking cow, animal handling and floristry displays to name but a few.
Staff and students were joined by staff from ABP Beef who ran a “guess the weight of the steak” competition to promote their forth coming Butchery Apprenticeship vacancies in partnership with the College.
The event was a huge success with the College taking home the Gold Award for Best Trade Stand, adding to their recent successes at the Devon County Show where they also won the award for the Best Trade Stand.
Jeremy Kerswell, Head of Land-based, Sports & Services said,
“The summer show calendar plays an important role in the College’s interaction with those from within the industry, providing students with invaluable opportunities for networking. These successes are yet another reflection on the Centre’s significant transformation since its merger with Bridgwater College 10 years ago, and, as the academic year comes to a close, the awards add to the long list of accolades achieved by both staff and students during the course of the year.”
