Funds raised during Bridgwater College’s annual Raise and Give (RAG) Day, were recently presented to the three chosen charities, The Hawk and Owl Trust, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and The Eddystone Trust.
Students and staff raised an impressive £7,500 during the day, which included activities such as laser quest, a surf simulator, silent disco, zombie apocalypse, driving simulators and a fancy dress competition. The day culminated with a party at the Palace night club. The amazing fundraising ideas and hard work from all paid off again this year!
Representatives Mike Price from the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Chris Sperring from The Hawk and Owl Trust came to the College to collect their cheques in a presentation made by Mike Robbins, Principal at the College, and the Student Union, who helped to organise the event.
Mike Price from The Motor Neurone Disease Association said,
“This money has already been spent, we have supplied two stair lifts for local people with the illness.”
Lauren Usher, the Treasurer of the Student Union said,
“It is great that the money will be supporting local branches of the charities, I know it will make a difference.”
Molly Blake, President of the Student Union said,
“We are so pleased to be able to do this event every year. It is always successful and everyone has a great day. The charities are chosen by our students and are often one’s that they have been directly involved with or affected by. It means a lot for us to be able to support them.”
