Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) is proud to announce a remarkable achievement from one of its talented Art & Design students, Harry Snell.
Harry recently designed merchandise for a contestant on the current season of RuPaul’s Drag Race US, a reality TV competition show that airs internationally.
Harry’s exceptional artistic abilities and digital proficiency shone through via the creation of two unique pieces of artwork using the digital illustration software Procreate.
These designs have been transformed into eye-catching t-shirts, now available for purchase – promoting both the drag queen and hit reality show.
This exciting opportunity provided Harry with invaluable real-world experience, demonstrating the practical applications of digital art in today’s creative industries. Harry’s success underscores the high calibre of talent fostered at BTC, and has provided them with vital industry experience.
Harry added,
I had the opportunity to work with Lucky Starzzz, a drag queen, on a T-shirt design for her promo outfit for RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17, as well as another one of her looks. When I was given the brief, I created some quick thumbnail sketches, then selected the three strongest and refined them. I sent these to Lucky and her manager, and when they responded, they were pleased with all the sketches and left the final decision to me.
The Level 3 Art and Design course has helped me gain the knowledge I needed for this opportunity, as our last project was a client brief, which taught me how to respond professionally.
Jenny Bowley, Deputy Head of Creative, Digital & Professional Studies, commented,
We are incredibly proud of Harry’s accomplishment. The work is a testament to Harry’s creativity, dedication, and the high standard of education we provide. This is a fantastic example of how our students are prepared to succeed in the professional world – well done, Harry!
Harry’s designs are featured on t-shirts now available for purchase online. Fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race and supporters of emerging artists can view and purchase the merchandise by clicking here.
BTC congratulates Harry on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to witnessing their future successes in both the creative field and beyond.
