Each year the British Flower Association hold their annual trade fair and Gala Award ceremony at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham. This year, the Floristry students of Bridgwater & Taunton College won another plethora of cups and accolades.
At the Gala Award ceremony Amy Shakeshaft was awarded two cups, one for the highest theory exam score within the UK for the Level 4 Higher Diploma in Floristry, and another for gaining the highest score in the country in the practical exam. Amy was delighted and discovered that her College peers had in fact gained five of the six highest exam scores in the country this year.
The following day Laura Williams, also a Level 4 graduate, entered the Fleurex practical competitions. She came third in the Body Adornment category and first in the Bridal Bouquet category. Her entries were of such a high standard that she went on to be awarded the Jimmy Nuttall Cup for innovative design.
Laura flies the flag for Bridgwater & Taunton College again this week when she appears as one of only eight finalists from the UK in the WorldskillsUK Floristry competition at the NEC Birmingham. The Floristry team and all of her peers wish her well!
