The Walled Gardens of Cannington will be hosting its annual Easter Weekend on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March, 10am – 4pm. There will be activities for the children, and maybe a chocolate egg or two!

The Gardens will be full of spring colours, and children can explore, find eggs, complete their activity book and take part in egg and spoon races and garden games. Not just for the children, there is plenty to entertain the adults as well, with new features for 2016. The Royal Entrance has been planted in oranges and purples, along with an evergreen structure.

Aquaponics at The Walled Gardens of Cannington

Regardless of the weather, the Botanical Glasshouse, the only one in Somerset, is divided into climactic zones, which provides visitors the chance to travel around the globe. Within the Glasshouse, there is the newly built Aquaponics Centre, where aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (growing plants without soil) are combined so that fish and plants grow together. The Tea Room also provides welcome shelter from the cooler weather with a selection of cakes, light refreshments, and maybe some chocolate!

Patricia James, who visited last year’s event with her two grandsons said,

“As usual, great value, good fun and very courteous staff. Although it was drizzling the boys (and my daughter and myself) thoroughly enjoyed the morning and the boys were ecstatic to have chocolate given to them! Well done all for a great experience.”

Child tickets cost just £2.50, with accompanying adults going free. From Saturday 2 April, the Gardens will be open seven days a week, 10am – 4pm (last entrance). If you would like more information about The Walled Gardens of Cannington call 01278 655042, email walledgardens@bridgwater.ac.uk.
