A Bridgwater College Nuclear Engineering alumni student has recently been awarded the UK Foundation Degree/HND Student of the Year at the UK Nuclear Skills Awards for the second year running.

Jessica Batts, of Blue Anchor, is an employee of EDF Energy and completed the Foundation Degree in Nuclear Engineering at Bridgwater College. Jessica was shortlisted to one of three finalists from across the UK who were invited to the Awards ceremony at the Mercure Hotel in Manchester to discover who would become the 2015 Student of the Year.

The quality of nominations for the award was exceptional; each entrant was assessed by an independent panel but Jessica’s commitment to the industry, education and her dedication to inspire young engineers left them in no doubt that she was the outstanding candidate.

She has proven to be an outstanding student and employee for EDF Energy within the nuclear sector and has consistently shown a professional approach to her work and always displays a genuine interest. This achievement has clearly been recognised by her employer which will give Jessica a very bright future within the Nuclear Engineering Industry.”
