BTC proudly announces that two of its students, Isaac Finch and Jack Hooper, have been selected for the prestigious England Colleges National Squad. Representing Team BTC Men’s football, Isaac, a student of Sports Coaching, and Jack, studying Sports & Exercise Science, have demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication to reach this significant milestone.
The journey to the national squad began with a South West trial at SGS College, where Isaac, Jack, and four other BTC teammates showcased their skills among the region’s top players. Following their standout performances, Isaac and Jack advanced to the final trial at Shrewsbury College, competing in a series of 11v11 matches against the country’s best.
Their selection now grants them the honour of representing England in upcoming games, including an international tour to Italy. The duo’s first match will be against Future Elite Sports at Beaconsfield FC, followed by a game against Forest Green Rovers at Cirencester Town FC. Additionally, they will participate in a two-day training camp at St George’s Park, England’s National Football Centre, culminating in a match against England’s Independent Schools Team.
Jack Hooper’s impressive displays in the FA Youth Cup have also led to a trial with Bristol City FC, where he has already represented the club in the Gloucestershire Senior C1up and is set to play against Tottenham Hotspur.
Mo Hopkins, Team BTC Football Performance & Development Manager, expressed pride in the team’s achievements, stating, “The whole team has worked extremely hard over the Pre-Season. They play in the Southwest Counties Youth League and the top tier of College football. The boys have put in several outstanding performances for both our U18’s, College team and had a fantastic FA Youth Cup run. Over recent years, it’s been great to have several of our students represent their country at College level, and not only in football. Jack & Isaac are the players currently receiving recognition, and they would agree that the entire team is a part of this success.”
