Bridgwater & Taunton College recently hosted two members of staff from GRADIA College. GRADIA is a vocational College in Jyväskylä, Finland.
They have been spending time with our Business Support Staff in Marketing and our cross-college PA Team, where they have gained an insight to how the College is managed and marketed by sharing good practice ideas with each other. As GRADIA has recently merged with other College’s in Finland, they were keen to find out how we have successfully accomplished this here at Bridgwater & Taunton College.
Participating in an Erasmus+ Job Shadow is a fantastic opportunity for staff to undertake professional development activities here at BTC. Not only have the staff who have helped host our colleagues from Finland learnt from them, but they will also have the opportunity to visit GRADIA and see how their organisation is comparable in Finland. This will add to the other students
The PA team at BTC were delighted to host a visit with Eevamari, who is an Executive Assistant at GRADIA. During the three days, we visited all three of our campuses and met with admin teams across the College to demonstrate the diversity of our courses and facilities. Eevamari found the experience invaluable as there were many similarities but also lots of differences in the way we work. She told me she has plenty of ideas to take back to GRADIA and share with her colleagues in Jyväskylä.
Katy Hockings- Personal Assistant to the Principal and Chief Executive.
All BTC Staff can apply to participate in a job shadow for a 3-5 day visit. They will spend time at our partner colleges to understand their systems and processes and to share good practices. They are then encouraged to bring back this knowledge and share it with the wider college community.
The Erasmus+ Team are able to fully fund staff placement, as well as students by paying for travel, accommodation, and subsistence whilst they are away. Taking part in such a programme is a once in a lifetime experience which we know will have a great impact on our staff and students.
To find out more about how to get involved, please contact the Erasmus+ Team for more information or visit our webpage.
