Three Bridgwater College students this season have been selected to represent Somerset RFU under 18s to play in fixtures against Cornwall, Devon and Dorset and Wiltshire; Struan Main, Lewis Dodge and Carl Guest. All three players featured in all three games with Somerset unfortunately losing two and winning one.

The fixtures were an opportunity for the Team BC Athletes to get a high level experience against the best players from the South West. Struan Main, Team BC captain said

“It was a great chance for us to get more game time and play within a different set up, which we were able to learn new things to add to our game and our team dynamic.”

More recently there has also been call ups for Gabriel Hannigan and Charlie Wilcox to the under 17s, where they will face Cornwall, Berkshire and Devon in March.

Roy Davies Head Coach of Team BC Rugby said,

“It’s really pleasing to see these players’ achievements and abilities recognised. All of those selected have worked really hard during their time within Team BC and I’m looking forward to seeing them continue to develop and grow as part of our programme.”

Mason Galloway, Interim Sports Development Manager said,

“It is fantastic to see our players being recognised not only locally but county wide as well, this shows the progression the team has made over the past couple seasons and shows our ambition as to where we envisage the rugby team to be.”

As of this season Team BC Rugby have begun to compete in the AoC South West Premier League, matching up against teams from all across the South West of England as well as South Wales. Alongside this development Team BC has launched a Rugby Development Programme, providing players with an opportunity to access over 12 hours training in addition to their academic studies.
