Team BC Elite South Football secured a point in a thrilling 4 – 4 draw with Plymouth College. With 15 minutes to play, the home side found themselves 4 – 2 down before two late strikes from Ross Coleman put them back in contention and Harry Fitchew scoring in the dying seconds to save Team BC in a dramatic afternoon at Kingsdown.

The game started at a good pace with chances a plenty for both sides. However, the first goal went against the run of play with Plymouth capitalising on a misunderstanding at the back. The home side battled hard and were rewarded in the 25th minute as Fitchew turned the ball home after a scramble in the Plymouth box.

Elite continued to press and when the keeper failed to clear the ball from a goal kick, Adam Pullen raced towards goal to confidently place the ball past the keeper’s right hand side, taking the team into a 2 – 1 lead at the break.

Team BC came out of half-time continuing to keep the ball and pressurise their visitors, Joel Dunster in the centre of midfield helped out in defence and attack, working tirelessly to help the hard working side. However, this changed shortly after the 60th minute when Plymouth changed their formation to overload the midfield, a move that changed the afternoon. The away side scored three quick goals as the Plymouth striker finished off two carbon copy volleys in the six-yard box.

With the home side now 4 – 2 down, they still remained in the game. The last ten minutes were dramatic as Team BC battled to secure a point. First substitute Coleman beat the keeper at his near post after the ball was played across the box before Fitchew sealed the point as Plymouth failed to clear the ball in the 18 yard box, the striker to found the time to take a touch and place the ball under the keeper to make the game 4 – 4.

Coach Andy Gill said,

“I’m proud of our boys today, they never dropped the intensity and deserved the draw. We now need to take this spirit on with us for the rest of the season, if we can cut out the small mistakes in our game and take our opportunities in front of goal we’ll put ourselves in the mix.”
