A student who is studying the Football Coaching in Community Settings at Bridgwater & Taunton College in partnership with Yeovil Town Community Trust, was recently recognised for his dedication to grow football in Somerset at the South Somerset District Council Gold Star Awards.
Oli Moore, who is currently studying the second year of his course at the College’s Yeovil Centre, was excited to have been awarded the Young Volunteer of the Year Award for the hard work and commitment he has shown to football in the community.
After receiving the award Oli said,
“It was fantastic to even be nominated for such an award, the recognition is really motivating. It shows that my hard work is making a difference and inspiring others, which is exactly why I volunteer. The event was fantastic, it has really driven me to continue with my volunteering. I am incredibly grateful to everyone involved in my volunteering journey and I hope that this will encourage others to go out and make a difference both within football and in our community.”
Michelle Yeowell, Course Leader for Football Coaching in Community Settings at the College’s Yeovil Centre added,
“Oli is an inspiration to all the students on the course and any individual who has a passion to be a coach. He works extremely hard both in the classroom and on the field, coaching a variety of ages and abilities throughout the week from FootyFives with the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, afterschool clubs and Sherbourne u10 team. Since starting the course, Oli has developed into a very confident leader and coach, which has led to various roles and opportunities with Somerset FA and the FA. Congratulations on a well-deserved award.”
