Bridgwater & Taunton College is the lead partner of the LifeOnline project, working with support from partners in the UK, Spain, Finland, Slovenia and The Netherlands. The three year project, funded by Erasmus+, will enable young people, particularly those who face barriers, to be better prepared for the workplace and able to consider a broader range of career options including entrepreneurship and international work.
The LifeOnline team has just completed its fourth project meeting in Helsinki. This followed the piloting of the LifeOnline e-learning programme, involving 30 young people and several tutors from the partner institutions. At the meeting, the programme was evaluated and improvements have been identified in readiness for its launch in its finished form in December 2017.
Learners had clearly already been inspired by their experience of using the LifeOnline materials, with one looking to return to Bilbao to take up an internship in a local primary school. Comments from learners included,
“It was a good introduction, easy to understand and it got me thinking about careers and life skills.”
The course has now been badged as ‘Master Your Future’ and is built around five modules:
- Kick-start your global journey
- Communicate like a ‘Pro’
- Manage your career
- Master the art of teamwork
- Think like an entrepreneur
Ultimately, the programme will be rolled out across the European Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. It will be available in all partner languages; English, Slovenian, Spanish, Finnish and Basque.
