Bristol City Community Trust and Bristol City Football Club, in partnership with Bridgwater College, offer a free two-week ‘Get ready for work’ programme for male and females, above the age of 19, who are in receipt of benefits.
The monthly ran courses will enable you to gain a variety of skills, and improve confidence, team-building and job interview development, whilst leaving you with a plan to kick-start your career in an industry that is best suited to your interests.
Individuals who successfully complete the course will gain four accredited qualifications, giving them a desired platform to enrol in employment in any industry, engage in volunteering opportunities or register for further education training.
Commenting upon the pre-employability programmes, programme coordinator Karl Carberry said,
“These programmes are a fantastic opportunity for people who are struggling to find employment. Every course follows the exact same structure and gives candidates a chance to gain four accredited qualifications, whilst enabling them to improve their desirability from an employer’s point of view.
“I would strongly encourage anyone who is unemployed and in receipt of benefits to enrol onto the course as it have proven to be of huge benefit to previous participants, helping them transform their lives for the better.”
Scott Witter, a former student said,
“I had been on a number of employability courses before but the Community Trust one was the best. Having a job has transformed my life as I can enjoy myself and do things with my friends that I was unable to do because of not having the money.”
50% of people who successfully finish the pre-employability course gain interviews within two weeks of the course completion. However, the number of people to have an interview within two months of the course completion rises to 75% as people have familiarised themselves and learnt how to utilise the skills they have developed and learnt through the course. From this number, 50% gain full-time employment in a desired industry.
