Donna Hibbert, Operations Manager at Premier Inn recently came into College to deliver a talk on working in the hospitality industry. Donna provided an overview of her experience in the sector and gave a careers talk on what students could go on to do after they complete their City & Guilds Travel & Tourism qualification with us. The day also included:
- Training session on how to make a bed up to Premier Inn standards which involved turning the classroom into a bedroom. The task was timed and there could only be one winner!
- Customer Service training about the expectations of working at Premier Inn which was related to the skills developed on our course
- A number of practical activities that Premier Inn only usually use to welcome new starters to the company
The day provided a unique opportunity for our students to further develop their communication and team working skills, knowledge of the industry and to add to their professional network. It was fun, engaging and interactive and was enjoyed by all students.
Hayley Baker, studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism, said,
“I did not know that so much effort goes into making a bed and cleaning a room at Premier Inn.”
