As part of the College’s ongoing National Apprenticeship Week 2020 celebrations, a wide variety of businesses across Somerset came together on Wednesday 5 February for the ‘Look Beyond’ BTC Business Breakfast that was held in The Quantock Restaurant at our Taunton Campus.

Delegates shared knowledge across the room through a series of networking, presentations and questions on the agenda for the morning.

Jade Arnold, from HOST Somerset gave an informative presentation on the Levy transfer from the perspective of being a recipient of the levy transfer scheme, offering insight into how HOST Somerset are currently spending their training budget.

In conjunction with Jade’s presentation, Oli Fletcher from STP offered perspective from the other side of the system in how they share levy between NHS partners and Somerset County Council, explaining how they offer a wide variety of Apprenticeships across a varied curriculum.

BTC representatives gave an update on the new T-Level qualification and the impact of the industry placement hours included in the qualification for employers, exchanging ideas of how they could implement industry placements within their business, generating questions and ideas for future development.

The Apprenticeship team gave an update on the changes to accessing Digital Account Services (DAS) for non-levy employers and how support is available to set up to and manage their account.

BTC are continuing to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week with their Apprenticeship and Career focused Open Evenings in March. Employers are welcome to attend with a stand at the open evening to promote their Apprenticeship vacancies with potential adults and school leavers.
