Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) is proud to announce that Arboriculture student, Harry, has earned a coveted place on the Stihl Timbersports Training Team.
This significant achievement follows a rigorous evaluation day that tested Harry’s knowledge, skills and passion for the industry.
Harry attended the evaluation event, which is designed to identify promising athletes for the internationally recognised extreme sport. After a demanding day of various strenuous trials – showcasing his skills in competitive wood chopping and sawing – Harry’s performance impressed the judges, leading to his invitation to join the official training squad.
Membership in the Timbersports Training Team provides Harry with access to elite coaching and resources, putting him on a pathway to potentially train and compete alongside the main Stihl Timbersports GB team in the future. This represents a potentially massive step forward in Harry’s development within arboriculture and athleticism.
Ben Jarvis, Learning Support Co-ordinator, said,
This is a potentially massive achievement for Harry moving forwards. Harry’s dedication and passion for his course shows by his commitment and success here – we’re all very proud and can’t wait to see what opportunities this opens for Harry!
Stihl Timbersports is acknowledged globally as the ‘original’ extreme sport, featuring thrilling competitions where athletes compete in disciplines such as the Stock Saw, Underhand Chop, Single Buck, and Standing Block Chop – each requiring immense power, precision and technique.
BTC congratulates Harry on this outstanding achievement, and wishes him the very best as he embarks on this exciting training journey with Stihl.
