Four Bridgwater College Media Academy students are working on an exciting project with a local manufacturing company. Owen Barry based in Street, Somerset, produce sheepskin, leather and suede garments and accessories, alongside their award winning handbags.

The students were commissioned to help Owen Barry with their media marketing, especially product shots and videos about various aspects of the company. With great enthusiasm, the Media Academy students developed ideas, pitched them to the company and then worked hard to bring the ideas to fruition.

To date, they have completed some creative photo shoots and are currently in post-production on a promotional video. Of particular success was a photo shoot promoting a range of handbags suitable for the festival season and can be viewed on the company website www.owenbarryatthetanyard.com.

As Owen Barry suggest on their website,

“The hope was they would bring a contemporary edge to the offer and after seeing their first images and storyboards we feel sure they will really inject a great look into the Owen Barry image. We already know that Owen Barry bags and clothing appeals to all ages, with the discerning, mature customer already very aware of the brand, but having a group of four knowledgeable, trend-aware youngsters speaking for and promoting Owen Barry will hopefully help us communicate and interact with a younger customer.”

All four students are currently completing their second year at Bridgwater College, studying A levels and have all been part of Bridgwater College’s Media Academy for two years working on many live briefs throughout that time. Student, Cameron Freeman from Weston-super-Mare said,

“Working on this project has been an inspirational opportunity and has helped develop my love for photography and film.”

Three of the four students are progressing on to Foundation Degree (FdA) in Media Production at Bridgwater College and hope to continue their rewarding partnership with Owen Barry into the new academic year.
