Team BC Netball faced Yeovil College in their first Cup match of the season. A few injuries to the squad meant changes the original line up, but once Bridgwater got into their stride, Yeovil were unable to catch them from start to finish.

The first quarter saw well timed interceptions from defensive players Rheanne Lee (GD) and Katy Tasker (GK), and the delaying of the opposition by Jessie Venning (WD) kept Team BC in the lead, giving them chance to make the most of every opportunity to score. Consistent shooting from Aerin Phillips (GS) increased the score line at half time and kept Yeovil chasing.

Going into the second half, changes to Team BC offered alternative options when bringing the ball down the court. Amy Knight (WA) and Cerys Ethridge (C) created some great movement while Sammy Kemmish (GA) held her space well in the circle to provide a safe option for her team and shot well to keep Team BC in the lead. Laura Gibson changed positions at three quarter time to WD and successfully applied pressure to the opposition causing them to force errors.

Yeovil kept fighting well into the last quarter of the game, however Aerin Phillips continued to secure some critical goals for the Team BC side and Cerys Ethridge (C) kept control of the game, providing a strong link between defence and attack. Defensive pressure from Charlie Fouracres (WD) helped to keep Yeovil at bay resulting in the first victory of the Cup for Team BC, winning 52 – 10.
