On Wednesday 2nd November, the Team BTC Netball (Performance) team travelled to Taunton to face Richard Huish in a league fixture as part of the Somerset County Partnership (SCP) Participation league.

This is the first time the two teams met, so neither knew what to expect. It was an equal start with both teams making important turnovers and forcing errors throughout the attack and defence. However, Huish pressurised Team BTC's attack and made it difficult for them to move the ball into the attacking circle.

The second quarter saw changes to the attacking formation which created a fresh dynamic within the circle. Combining with accurate shooting from Katie Rowles (GS), Team BTC were back in contention.

Going into the second half of the game, tactical play from Rachel Rowland (GD) and Maria Anghel (GK) proved effective for making vital tips and turnovers to break down Huish's attacking play.

Jessie Venning (WD) and Pip Dickens (C) worked tirelessly to create the link between defence and attack but unfortunately, Huish proved to be the stronger team and continued to force errors throughout the court. Team BTC could not catch the winning team but did not give up their efforts to make turnovers and give Huish a well contested game!

Final score: 35 – 16

Coach’s Player of the Match: Rachel Rowland
Players’ Player of the Match: Pip Dickens
