The Agriculture team at Bridgwater & Taunton College have received a new delivery of tractors which will support and develop their students experiences within the industry.
The tractors are CASE IH in a range of models including Farmall, Maxxum, and Puma. They will be used to teach machinery practical’s including basic tractor driving, fieldwork operations and machinery maintenance. This will provide the students with an insight into the safe use and operation of machinery, health and safety and machine controls.
Practical experience is essential in developing an individual’s skills. Students will learn key skills such as attaching machinery to the tractor, safe use of loaders and operating the tractors in different fieldwork operations. One tractor is fitted with GPS and Autosteer and allows the students to use the latest technology and become efficient with machinery.
Shane Plowright, Course Leader for Agriculture said,
The tractors range from 120hp through to 200hp and are used for a wide range of practical tasks across Rodway Farm. They offer the students the perfect opportunity to use the latest products and embrace innovation within the industry. Progression of skills is essential in the agricultural industry and our students benefit immensely from the experiences they are given.
