As part of the English Colleges FA’s National Activator Training event at Wembley Stadium, Bridgwater & Taunton College’s Team BTC work experience placement student and ECFA Activator, Oli Moore, recently delivered a key note speech to over 180 delegates including national football staff, college football activators and college members of staff.
The national training event included deliveries from Women in Sport and Rimla Akhtar MBE around engaging hard to reach groups. AoC Sport Managing Director, Marcus Kingwell, also spoke about the great work that colleges are achieving across the country and Karl Lines (FA National Schools Manager) delivered a personal development session.
As Chairperson of the ECFA National Student Leadership Committee, Oli Moore delivered a key note speech around his volunteering journey. Speaking about his influences and opportunities to develop himself and others through volunteering and the power that volunteers have to inspire others and make a difference.
Molly Ardren, College Sports Maker at Bridgwater & Taunton College, spoke to Oli after the event, he said,
“Whilst I was very nervous to deliver my key note speech, the opportunity to share some of my experiences of the power of volunteering and to inspire others to go and make a difference at Wembley Stadium was one which I will not be forgetting in a while.
My key messages for the room on this afternoon were all from my experiences as a volunteer, around making a difference, inspiring others, transferable skill development and how volunteering depicts a journey.
Once I came off the stage, I was buzzing, I really enjoyed the experience and I’ve received some great and really humbling feedback, I just hope that the other ECFA Activators in the room found it inspiring.”
National Football Development Officer for AoC Sport, Matt Dandy said,
“I came away from the event totally inspired, by not only Oli’s words, but the way that he delivered his key note. Oli came across so passionate and honest, I can honestly say that the majority of delegates will say that his key note was the highlight of the event and Oli should be exceptionally proud of himself”
