Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) Professional Cookery students have achieved record results for their written theory exam.
All BTC students studying the Level 2 Technical Certificate in Professional Cookery and Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Professional Cookery have 100% achievement with high merit and distinction across the board.
This is the first full year since COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, and students have been keen to rise to the occasion, working in tandem with teaching staff who have demonstrated outstanding dedication and perseverance.
The national average for achieving at minimum a passing grade is between 75-80%, therefore this success will situate BTC students in a very strong position once combined with their technical exam scores.
They are due to be awarded their final grades by City & Guilds on the 24 August 2023.

This is a testament to the level of commitment demonstrated by an excellent student group, combined with the dedication of an outstanding team of teachers who ensure each student has the opportunity to reach their potential. Technical qualifications have seen many changes over the years which have been daunting. The team here at BTC have taken this as a challenge, and have created an excellent programme to support leaners into a diverse range of hospitality operations. The employment engagement programme and the positive feedback from employers across the country reiterates the positive impact we will have providing hospitality professionals.
Lucy Williams, Level 2 Professional Cookery student, said,
This course has gone above and beyond – not only teaching me practical skills, but providing a proper insight to the industry. The teachers all do their very best and go out of their way to deliver fun, engaging and enriching lessons, which help to make the next generation of hospitality workers ready and prepared!
