Children from Herwick Class at Priddy Primary School stepped outside their classroom for a scientific visit to The Walled Gardens of Cannington to learn all about the lifecycle of plants.
They were welcomed by Emma Butler from Bridgwater & Taunton College and Farmlink, who provided the children with information and activities relating to plant lifecycles, pollination and seed dispersal.
Emma said,
“The children were very knowledgeable in their understanding of plants and liked undertaking the activities to demonstrate the unusual ways in which plants are pollinated and spread their seeds.”
Mrs Franks, Forest School Leader at Priddy School who organised the visit said,
“It is so important to encourage children in outdoor education and especially with living plants. The children enjoyed taking part in all the activities and because their learning was relevant and hands-on, their understanding of life cycles in plants and pollination improved greatly.”
