Sarah Nickless from the Somerset FA recently delivered a blind football workshop to Level 3 Football Coaching students at Bridgwater & Taunton College. Students took part in some fun and exciting warm up games where they had to rely on their other senses as their vision was taken away. It gave the students a chance to experience another format of football and also appreciate the difficulty of trying to play.

After the workshop, Sarah spoke about her new role as Somerset FA Football Development Officer and explained the many different opportunities to work in the sport and football industry. Sarah also gave a brief insight in to her own development after leaving College and explained how she got to where she is now.

Sarah said,

“It was great to deliver the workshop to so many young people who are aspiring to become future football coaches. They all gave it a good go, it hopefully gave them another option to think about after they leave College. I look forward to working with Jamie and his Level 3 learners in the future.”

Jamie Laird, Level 3 Football Coaching Course Leader, added,

“It was another great opportunity for the learners to come out of the classroom and work with the Somerset FA. Sarah’s presentation also helped the students to understand the other options there are to work in the industry and how beneficial it is to complete voluntary work and work experience whilst studying at the College.”

The FA provides a series of training courses for coaches from Level One right through to the most advanced UEFA Pro Licence. The courses are packed with expert knowledge and cover all areas of player development.
