Twelve sport students from Bridgwater College put on a brave-face for charity after agreeing to have their legs waxed for charity, In Charley’s Memory.

The group, who are studying either the CYQ Personal Trainer or Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness qualifications at the College, realised this fun, yet painful act was a sure way of raising additional money for the charity. With the support of the College’s Beauty students, this was the last of a number of fund raising activities planned by the students and staff from the College, which included 12-hour spinning sessions in supermarkets around the town.

The final event was to cycle the 280 miles, from Greenwich Park in London to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, in four days.  The fun, yet painful activity raised more than £250 for the charity.

Sport student Matt Denman.

Student, Will Astill said,

“I took part in the leg waxing because I wanted to raise money for In Charley’s Memory as it is a charity very close to my heart. I feel that I have made a difference with the money we have raised.”

Matt Denman, who studies Sports Development and Coaching at Bridgwater College added,

“I feel very proud to do this because the money really does change things for the better and helps to make people more aware of what the charity is trying to do.”
