Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) A Level Business and Economics students recently participated in an enriching trip to the University of South Wales (USW) Business School, which is known for deploying a challenge-based curriculum to help students hit the ground running with their careers.
The trip enabled BTC students to explore the USW Business School and immerse themselves in the world of university life. The visit provided students with a comprehensive understanding of various degree programmes and potential career paths, aiding them in making informed decisions about their future progression routes.
Students partook in four engaging taster sessions focused on Advertising, Accounting & Finance, Business Management, and Marketing degree programmes. These sessions offered students a glimpse into the curriculum and learning environment of each field, as well as insights into the diverse career opportunities they could unlock.
Beyond the taster sessions, students also received valuable guidance on the higher education application process, financing options, and alternative routes to degree-level qualifications – including apprenticeships. USW showcased its commitment to supporting students through apprenticeships and examples of collaborative projects that take place with local employers.
Liz Nuttall, Head of A Levels, commented,
This trip was an invaluable opportunity for our students to experience university life and gain a deeper understanding of the diverse possibilities available to them. The feedback from our students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many now feeling more confident and informed about their next steps.
The visit has also strengthened the relationship between BTC and USW. Promising discussions are underway to further develop this partnership, including future guest lecture appearances by USW faculty at BTC in the coming months.
This partnership will ensure BTC students continue to receive fantastic opportunities to explore their future progression options, reflecting the College’s multifaceted approach to teaching and learning.
