Cannington Golf Centre hosted its annual Captain’s Drive-in to bring in the 2016/17 Golf season. The event was held in aid of Cancer Research UK, the Captain’s chosen charity.
The event was hailed a success by Club Captain David Willis, as it was well-attended and was held in high spirits, with the sun making a welcome appearance for tee-off. However, the golfers were to be tested by the elements during their rounds, enduring spells of hail and rain, but fortunately not enough to dampen the mood of any golfer.
The teams of three teed off in a Stableford competition at 1pm, with a shotgun start. The match was won by Team Lenny, with a score of 45 points, two points clear of Team Rooke on 43.
Club Captain, David Willis said,
“Thanks must go to all who were involved in the planning and to those who helped out at the event. Another huge thank you goes to everyone who generously donated some amazing raffle prizes; we’re delighted to have raised over £200 for Cancer Research UK. We’re very pleased with the turn-out to the event; it made it an enjoyable afternoon of golf.”
