Towards the end of last term no less than five Team BTC elite football scholars had the opportunity to represent Somerset County U18s in a highly competitive fixture versus our Devon counterparts.

Harry Butler, Charlie Dodd, Tom Creed, Olie Hucker & Jordan Lovibond (pictured above) all made a significant contribution to Somerset’s performance and showcased their ability, more than justifying their regular appearances for the county team.

These players are a part of the elite football development pathway at Bridgwater & Taunton College and therefore have access to high quality coaching from experienced UEFA coaches & a competitive games programme.

Harry Butler said,

“It’s always a great honour to represent your county in football and I thank Bridgwater & Taunton College for enabling me to first trial and now be a part of this set up. I hope that I can represent the College well and, going forward, help and encourage other good young players to do the same.”

In addition to this achievement on the same night three current Team BTC players also had the honour to make their 1st team debuts for our partners Taunton Town FC playing in the Somerset Senior cup against Conference side Weston Super Mare FC. Taunton fielded a youthful side and selected Team BTC Elite team centre backs Paul Grant & Kyle Winter alongside Kyle Lazowski in central midfield. All three BTC players gave excellent accounts of themselves in front of TTFC management and looked comfortable playing against a very experienced WSM featuring Team BTC Coach Jamie Laird and current Level 3 Sport student Liam Kingston, who kept a clean sheet.

Paul Grant said,

‘To represent Taunton Town against Weston-Super-Mare in the Cup is a huge honour and I cannot thank the Bridgwater & Taunton College coaching staff enough for providing me with the opportunity. I hope I did them proud and demonstrated what great opportunities this college provides to young athletes.’
