Team BTC 45 – 43 Exeter 2
Team BTC welcomed Exeter College 2 on the back of a friendly victory against Richard Huish 2. BTC started very slowly and took 5 minutes to register their 1st points of the game but did manage to go into a 10-9 lead. This lead didn’t last long as Exeter finished the quarter strong by going on a 9-0 run to take a lead of 18-10 into the 2nd quarter. Both teams traded baskets throughout the 2nd quarter but Exeter’s lead remained intact at half time by leading 28-21.
BTC looked to bounce back in the 2nd half but poor mistakes on offense enabled Exeter to extend the lead to 14 points midway through the 3rd quarter. This prompted a BTC time out and some harsh words from the bench to attempt to put the team back on the right path. That seemed to work as BTC came out firing and went on a 11-0 run to finish the quarter which cut Exeter’s lead to 3 points, 40-37. With the game in the balance in the 4th quarter, BTC kept up the intensity on defense to take a 43-40 lead going into the last 2 minutes of the game. Credit to Exeter College who were able to stop the rot and a 2 point field goal and crucially had the opportunity to take the lead with 15 seconds remaining when K. Harris was only able to score 1 free throw from 2 which left the game tied 43-43 with 15 seconds remaining.
The game looked to be heading to over time until Mike Ajayi stepped up to score an offensive rebound with less than 1 second on clock. The team showed great character to overturn a 14 point deficit and come away with the win!
Difficult to pick a player of the game but Alfie King lead the point scoring with 14 points, Genildo Das Neves with 12 and then Alex Taylor and Mike Ajayi with 6 points each. All of Mike’s points came in the 4th quarter when the game was on a knife edge including the winning basket!

Team BTC 40 – 7 Huish 2
After a tight start to the game a missed tackle deep in the Huish half allowed them to work their way up the field to score the first try of the day.
Despite a scrappy first half from BTC they scored two tries of their own, one from Rhys Lewis Kemble, who reacted quickest at the back of a lineout to then swerve the last defender and dive over for his which was then followed by Dre Laoutaris supporting well to take the score to 14-7.
BTC took control in the second half, with big impact from the bench they stretched their lead out to 40-7, with Jono Hayes scoring a hat trick of tries with Alfie Hodge adding to his 10 kicking points with a try of his own.

Team BTC 2 – 4 Yeovil
On Wednesday Team BTC Men’s vs Yeovil, in their first game back since the Christmas break. It was end to end football, in an exhilarating game that our men’s 3’s put on display.
Yeovil put themselves 2-0 up with goals in the 12th and 39th minutes.
Despite this, on the cusp of halftime, Team BTC pulled one back through Evan Griffiths who tapped in a rebound, from a Victor Matsitsiro shot.
Team BTC equalised in the 52nd minute, Luke Haysham scored with an unbelievable strike from the tightest of angles to level the score.
Despite BTC’s best efforts, Yeovil scored two quick goals in the 72nd and 75th minute, to eliminate any form of comeback from the Men’s 3’s.

Team BTC 0 – 9 Hartpury 1
Team BTC faced Hartpury 1s at home in the AoC Cat 1 Premier League. We started strong with a quick counter from Campbell-Farmer on the left, linking well with Payne and Mills making a well-timed overlapping run to create an early opportunity which was saved by the Hartpury keeper. BTC looked to move the ball quickly with the back three linking up well with the midfield, but this was made difficult by Hartpury’s high press.
The second half started well with Team BTC being more clever, compact and patient out of possession. The back three of Arnold, Mullins and Pinkett were outstanding throughout the half both in and out of possession to help gain and maintain the ball. Team BTC looked to continue our quick counters, catching Hartpury off-guard but after a long 90 minutes of work, it was a very strong Hartpury side that took the points.
POTM – Halle Arnold for her consistent reliability at the back, gaining control of the ball and supporting our forward play.
